Pilot Suffers Minor Injuries In Plane Crash

One person suffered minor injuries after a small plane crashed into the Saint John River.

RCMP say it happened near Morrisdale, not far from Grand Bay-Westfield, just after 9 p.m. Saturday.

Sgt. Jean-Francois Martel said the pilot experienced a mechanical failure at the time of the crash.

Martel said several people watched the incident unfold and a bystander with a boat pulled the pilot from the water.

Police said it was a small plane which was capable of holding between two and four passengers.

Alexandre Fournier, a spokesperson for the Transportation Safety Board of Canada, said they are aware of the crash.

Fournier said they are following up with the different parties involved but will not deploy a team at this time.
