I’m certainly not one of those “Pizza snobs” that can only use certain ingredients or doesn’t believe that pineapple belongs on top, but there are some combos that really try my explorative nature.
Back in the 1970’s, there was ad campaign from a group of “fruit producers” featuring recipe suggestions. They were designed to keep fruit in people’s diets, while appealing to the modern cuisine of fast-food. One that stuck out to me, “Tuna and Pear Pizza.” It was pizza made from a sauce containing a combination of tuna and pears, topped with pickled walnuts and anchovies. I mean, I’d give it a try, but that sauce ! and who knew you could pickle a walnut ?
That being said, I’d probably try it… would you ???
