Planned power outage in Saint Andrews area Wednesday night

Hundreds of homes and businesses in the Saint Andrews area will have no power overnight Wednesday night.

A planned power outage will take place in the area beginning at 11 p.m. Wednesday and lasting until 6 a.m. Thursday.

NB Power said areas affected by the outage will include Saint Andrews, Bocabec, Chamcook and Bayside.

“Crews will install more wildlife guards to help prevent unplanned outages,” Spokesperson Liz Fraser said in an email.

“We are also using this planned outage as an opportunity to complete some priority maintenance and hot spot repairs at the same time, all of which will improve reliability for the area.”

A previous post from the Town of Saint Andrews said that if the repairs are not completed, more damage could lead to an unplanned outage that might take days to repair.

The planned outage was originally supposed to take place in late June but was postponed by the utility.

Fraser said customers who will be impacted by this outage have already been notified.
