PM Makes Stop To Speak At IAFF Legislative Conference

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made a stop at the Legislative Conference for the International Association of Firefighters today, as they are meeting in Ottawa today.

Four of the members attending are from Moncton, that includes Al Mitton, the President of the Moncton Firefighters Association.

He says it is the first time in 23 years that the Prime Minister has spoken at the conference, “Fantastic progress is being made, so as an Association, both provincially and federally we are very excited and very happy with this government.”

The main issues being raised to MP’s at this year’s meeting are a need for compensation benefits for public safety officers, a PTSD program as well as looking at national building codes.

Mitten says they’ll be meeting with their MP’s on Parliament Hill tomorrow.
