Point Lepreau Back Online

The Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station has been reconnected to the province’s power grid.

NB Power said the station was taken offline last Tuesday, Aug. 2, following an undisclosed equipment issue.

“Further assessments are underway to perform maintenance required in order to reconnect the Station to the grid,” the utility said in a news release at the time.

NB Power confirmed that the station was reconnected to the grid this past Tuesday, Aug. 9.

The outage came less than a week after the generating station came back online following planned maintenance.

That outage was supposed to last 10 or 11 weeks but continued for nearly 16 weeks instead.
