Police arrest ATV operator in dangerous driving incident

Saint John police have arrested a 20-year-old man following a dangerous driving incident on the city’s east side.

An officer on patrol saw an ATV driving recklessly in the area of Champlain Drive and McAllister Drive shortly after 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.

“As the driver continued down McAllister Drive, they were observed swerving back and forth across four lanes,” police said in a news release.

The all-terrain vehicle was later found abandoned in a parking lot in the 400-block of Westmorland Road.

The operator was located a short distance away and taken into custody without further incident.

He was issued Provincial Offences Procedures Act appearance notice for driving without due care and attention.
