The Police Commission will be examining the cost of overtime after an appearance before Common Council to talk about why it’s so difficult to pinpoint policing costs with any degree of certainty.
It has been revealed the cost of the investigation into former Common Councillor Donnie Snook cost over half a million dollars with one police officer accumulating 40 thousand dollars worth of overtime.
The chair of the Police Commission Jonathon Franklin explains the investigation was very technical in nature and the officer had expertise which had to be drawn on often.
Franklin says 55 officers worked on the Richard Oland murder investigation. He also points out when something happens, you just can’t send people home because their shift is coming to an end.
