The Transit Commission was taken to task by Common Council for blowing its budget but will the same thing happen to the Police Commission when it gives a presentation tonight?
Police Commission Chair Jonathon Franklin will argue the Saint John Police Department is extraordinarily efficient, accounting for 15 per cent of the city’s budget compared to the Canadian average of between 20 and 25 per cent.
He also doesn’t think there’s sufficient appreciation of the job City Police do although almost 80 per cent of Saint Johnners who were surveyed say they do a good or very good job and the satisfaction rate exceeds 80 per cent which is a lot higher than that for Common Council.
