Police Confirm Shooting In Calais

Calais Police confirm a shooting yesterday morning.

Police were called to a residence on Baring Street, finding one person who had been assaulted by two individuals.

The 17-year-old vicitim from Amsterdam, New York said the incident took place on South Street — and said as he left, he heard a gunshot.

A short time later, police were told 38-year-old Tony McLaughlin arrived at the Calais Regional Hospital with a gunshot wound.

McLaughlin reported the gunshot was an accident, and the gun was recovered at another residence in Calais.

Maine State Police are investigating.

Calais Police Chief David Randall says the case is possibly drug related.
