Police Operation Closes Saint John Streets

A police operation Friday evening shut down several streets near Prince Edward Square mall.

Saint John police first posted about the operation on Twitter shortly after 6:30 p.m.

They asked people to avoid the area of Prince Edward Street and Richmond Street.

Several police vehicles were seen in the area, including the force’s armoured rescue vehicle.

About an hour later, police tweeted that one building at the corner of Prince Edward and Richmond streets was contained and there was no threat to the public.

Police left the area shortly before 8:30 p.m. Friday and confirmed the operation had concluded but have not provided any other details.
