UPDATE: Man Surrenders After Hours-Long Standoff

A man surrendered to police Tuesday afternoon following an hours-long standoff at an east Saint John motel.

Saint John police said they were called to the Park Plaza Motel on Rothesay Avenue for a disturbance around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Spokesperson Jim Hennessy said a man barricaded himself inside one of the room.

Hennessy said the man surrendered peacefully to officers around 2 p.m. Tuesday.

No one was hurt and there is no word on charges, he said.
