Police seek more young applicants for advisory committee

The Saint John Police Force encourages more young people to apply for the Youth Leadership Advisory Committee.

With only 10 applicants so far, Chief Robert Bruce hopes to see increased participation from the community’s youth.

Bruce emphasizes the importance of engaging youth in shaping the future of policing in Saint John.

“We’re still trying to get the word out, but it’s tougher with the younger crowd. However, I think it will be a good thing for us to engage our youth,” he said.

The committee offers young people between the ages of 16 and 22 the opportunity to provide feedback on police interactions, help shape future policing initiatives, and discuss issues that affect their community.

Bruce adds that there is no limit on the number of participants and encourages all interested youth to apply.

Applications are open until January 31st. Selected applicants will participate in quarterly meetings with the Chief and officers.
