Saint John Police are asking for the public’s help after a car was stolen, leaving an elderly man injured.
The incident happened on Saturday at around 3:45 p.m.
Police say an 84-year-old man was sitting in his silver 2014 Honda Accord, which was running at the time, when he was approached by a man who claimed the vehicle had a flat tire.
The victim got out to check the tire, and the suspect entered the driver’s seat and drove away.
The man tried to stop the suspect by grabbing the car door, but was dragged several feet before letting go. Officers say he was injured in the process.
The stolen vehicle has a New Brunswick licence plate JGV066.
The suspect is described as a man between 30 and 35 years old, about five-foot-seven and 180 pounds, with a tanned complexion and scruff on his face.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have video footage from the area at the time to contact them.
