Police seize over $400K in drugs in Saint John

Saint John police seized more than $400,000 worth of drugs following an investigation that led to the arrest of a 19-year-old man.

Authorities said that the arrest happened on Thursday.

Officers with the Street Crime Integrated Enforcement Unit (IEU) say they recovered 718 grams of fentanyl, 2.4 kilograms of cocaine, and 976 grams of crystal meth.

Investigators also seized $38,545 in cash, three loaded 9mm handguns, multiple cell phones, and ammunition.

The total value of the drugs and cash seized is estimated at $415,980, according to police.

The man is facing the following charges:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamines (crystal meth)
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine
  • Proceeds of crime over $5,000
  • Three counts of unlawful storage of firearms
  • Three counts of possession of a restricted firearm with readily accessible ammunition
  • Three counts of possession of a weapon without being the holder of a license

The accused appeared in court on Friday and was remanded into custody until a bail hearing scheduled for Monday.
