Police Warn Of Credit Card Scam

Saint John police are warning folks about a credit card scam making the rounds through phone calls.

Police say the scammers may already have some of your information and use it to subtly convince you they are your credit card company.

They then ask you to buy gift cards and give them the verification codes to reverse the charges back to your account.

Police say you can avoid being scammed by never giving out credit card information during a call you did not make, reporting all unauthorized charges to your credit card company, and never buying gift cards to make a payment on any kind of account.

Mounties recently issued a similar warning in the Sussex area.
