Poll Finds More Restaurant Tips Left In Pandemic

The pandemic has had an effect on the tips Atlantic Canadians leave for restaurant staff, that according to a poll by Narrative research.

The poll found that 60 per cent of Atlantic Canadians typically leave a tip, but 42 per cent said when picking up a take-out order, they are now leaving a tip, or have increased the amount they would normally leave.

Those aged 18-34 are more likely to leave a tip while those between 35-54 less likely.

Nova Scotia has the largest number of individuals who began leaving tips at 17 per cent.

Newfoundland and Labrador were the least likely at 7 per cent.

The survey polled over 11 hundred Atlantic Canadians between January 11 to 16.

When it comes to household income, those who make less than 50 thousand were more likely to leave a tip.
