Canada Post is welcoming employees back on the job after the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) announced members would go back to work Saturday; however, uncertainty remains.
Instead of a nationwide strike, members will move to rotating strikes.
In a news release, Friday afternoon, the Crown corporation says they are urging CUPW back to the table, as rotating strikes has always “challenged our ability to provide reliable service to customers.”
“As a result, all service guarantees will be suspended.”
CUPW members have been off the job since Sept. 25. They walked out after the federal government announced reforms to Canada Post to stabilize the corporation’s finances.
Simpson said union leadership will meet with Minister Joël Lightbound next week. Lightbound is the minister responsible for Canada Post.
