Pothole Season Is Keeping City Crews busy

The heavy rainfall on Thursday may have created even more potholes in the city of Saint John, but crews have been working very hard dealing with those tire bursting-rim bending craters on a lot of roads.

Director of Transportation Michael Hugenholtz says his crews have already had a busy year.

“We’ve patched just shy of 3,000 potholes since the new year, a lot of those were in March and the effort continues this month so hopefully some folks are seeing improvement on the streets out there,” stated Hugenholtz.

The new pothole reporting line has already had 100 calls for service and they are expecting more to come. Once the hot asphalt plants open they will really be able to patch the holes much better.
