Residents on Deer Island have been left in the dark.
According to the NB Power outages page, over 600 customers are without electricity due to two unplanned outages.
In a statement sent to our newsroom on Tuesday morning, NB Power Spokesperson Elizabeth Fraser said a theft from a substation caused the outage.
The current restoration time on the power utility’s website now says the lights should be back on between 6 and 7 pm Tuesday. Fraser said crews continue to work to resolve the issue.
Deer Island Community School was closed today because of the outage.
