Power Outages Possible Due To Freezing Rain

NB Power is on alert today, because of the freezing rain in the forecast.

Spokesperson Dominique Couture says, “Freezing rain is always a concern for us because of the weight it puts on our equipment, our lines and on our trees.”

Couture says they have 72 crews on standby, in case of outages.

“If the public encounters downed lines, always remember to not approach them and treat them as if they are live. That means staying a bus length away and giving us a heads up that you have seen a downed line, so we can address it as quickly as possible,” Couture says.

She suggests following the utility on their social media, “To get more information about our storm response you can always follow our social media channels. That’s a good way of staying informed.”
