Power Restored To Thousands

UPDATED 5:09 p.m.

Power is being restored across the province after strong gusty wind knocked trees and branches onto power lines.

Just under 3-thousand customers are without power now compared to 17-thousand early this afternoon.

The utility is reporting scattered outages in the K-V, but so far, Saint John Energy is not reporting any.

The high winds also leading to the cancellation of a cruise ship visit planned for today by the Grandeur of the Seas.

More than 18,000 New Brunswickers are off the grid today because of those gusty winds.

93 homes and businesses in Rothesay are in the dark and NB Power offers no estimation for when it might be back.

Hundreds are also without electricity in Kars and Coles Island.

In a tweet this morning, NB Power says all available crews are working to address the power outages.

The main issues are trees making contact with lines and in some cases, trees and branches have broken and fallen onto lines.
