A major economic development announcement this morning in Lorneville at the Spruce Lake Industrial Park.
Premier Brian Gallant and federal cabinet minister Rob Moore will be among those on hand.
We have been told it’s the much talked about barge terminal project which came to the public’s attention last June at the annual meeting of Saint John Industrial Parks. Common Councillor Gerry Lowe was at that meeting and back then told us about the job numbers, saying he could see upwards of 700 jobs being created eventually paying from 20 to 30 dollars an hour.
Lowe says this project would be the best thing that can happen to Saint John in a long time and would have a greater long term impact on the local economy than the Energy East pipeline.
