Premier Brian Gallant says the cabinet shuffle he announced in Saint John has nothing to do with next year’s provincial election.
Donald Arseneault, Victor Boudreau and Ed Doherty of Saint John Harbour are no longer in the cabinet. The Premier takes over as the Regional Minister for Saint John and southwestern New Brunswick.

Tourism, Heritage and Culture Minister John Ames of St. Stephen will also serve as minister responsible for Poverty Reduction and the Economic and Social Inclusion Corporation.
Benoit Bourque is the new health minister. Treasury Board President Roger Melanson will also serve as minister of Post-Secondary Education and minister responsible for Aboriginal Affairs.
Finance Minister Cathy Rogers will also serve as regional minister for Greater Moncton and Southeastern New Brunswick.
The Premier will serve as the regional minister for Saint John and Southwestern New Brunswick.
Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Bill Fraser will also serve as minister for the Regional Development Corporation as wells as the regional minister for Central New Brunswick.
Environment and Local Government Minister Serge Rousselle takes over Service New Brunswick.
