Premier Must Act On Vaccine Passports; Melanson Says

The province will hold a COVID-19 update this afternoon, when new measures are expected to be introduced to help prevent the spread.

Interim Liberal Leader Roger Melanson is pushing for a vaccine passport to help manage how people move in a pandemic, “The business community has been hurting over this pandemic because of different measures, but they want to move on. They want to have safe and secure customers and patrons coming into the businesses to consume their good and services.”

Melanson says it is pretty clear this virus is spreading in indoor settings and he can’t understand why Premier Blaine Higgs has been dragging his heels over the last four to five weeks to make a decision.

“This is a temporary measure. The day that the vast majority of New Brunswickers will have their second dose or the two doses of vaccine, for those who can, we know that will be the permanent solution. But we have to get there,” Melanson says.

Today’s update is scheduled for 2:30. You can watch it live on the Government of New Brunswick YouTube channel
