Province Gives Quarter Million For Upgrades To St. Stephen’s University

The provincial government is helping out Canada’s smallest University with some upgrades.

Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, as well as the Regional Development Corporation, Bill Fraser announcing $250,000 is going to St. Stephen’s University to bring the historic building up to code.

Fraser said, “So much of the depth of the St. Stephen’s University degree lies in the four years spent living with your peers and sharing daily life with them. New Brunswickers want their government to make investments to help the economy, and our investment at St. Stephen’s University will help strengthen and improve the quality of life of students, faculty, and the entire St. Stephen community.”

President, Bob Cheatley says Park Hall is a hundred and fifty-two years old, and it needs some work. “This investment is being made through the Regional Development Corporation and is very significant for several reasons. It recognizes, firstly, the importance of making this historic building fire safe for the sake of the students who live here throughout the academic year.”

Park Hall is the main building of the University and provides most of the living space, including residence, kitchen, dining area, and library.
