Province Offers Online Hunter Safety Course

New Brunswick hunters can now take an online education course covering all aspects of hunter safety including end-of-chapter quizzes.

HunterCourse.com, which currently provides similar courses in several locations in Canada and the U.S., will develop and deliver part B of the New Brunswick Hunter Education Course online.

Natural Resources and Energy Development Minister Mike Holland said he’s pleased the bilingual hunter education course is available online for New Brunswickers to complete at their own pace.

“Since the start of the pandemic, it has not been easy to offer a full schedule of classroom courses. I encourage New Brunswickers to take advantage of this new opportunity so that when we can resume, any classroom time is used efficiently for the firearm safety portion,” Holland said

Students must write an exam after completing the online course with the results shared to the province in order to update a person’s Outdoors Card profile.

The Federal Firearms Safety portion must still be taken in person through the province’s Conservation Education System in order to qualify to hunt with a firearm.

A notice on the government website said in-person courses can’t be offered right now due in part to government restrictions.
