The Director of the New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization, Greg MacCallum, says thousands of New Brunswickers are facing stressful situations that will continue over the next few days.

MacCallum says a lot of ice on Grand Lake is moving and causing problems as it does.
“It’s impacting infrastructure and housing on shorelines and that will continue and may be compounded if there is an uptick in wind.”
MacCallum says soldiers are helping with sandbagging efforts and wellbeing checks for people in their homes.

He adds they can access additional resources on top of what the province has.
“We are augmented with Coast Guard boats in addition to our own provincial inventory and the Department of Fisheries and Oceans as well,” MacCallum said during the daily EMO briefing on Wednesday, “and they are maintaining a number of roles and tasks including evacuating individuals.”
“This is not our first experience with provincial flooding and people have for the most part always demonstrated resiliency and patience. We are asking people to be mindful of those around them.” MacCallum said.
