More meetings are planned this week between the provincial government and representatives from the university and college sectors, to talk about a new tuition assistance program.
Training and Labour Minister Francine Landry says the recently announced education and economy fund introduced by the provincial government includes funding for that new program in an effort to make post secondary education more accessible.
Student groups have previously voiced support for programs which would provide financial assistance to students with the greatest need.
Landry notes that the provincial government is looking at opportunities to make tuition more affordable and funding more sustainable.
