Provincial Government Unveils Highway Toll Options

The provincial government has released more details on highway tolls, if they decide that is one of the best options for the province in paying down the deficit.

The province is looking at possibly installing eight electronic toll facilities in the province, that would increase revenues by around $60 million.

This would come at a cost of around $9 per car and $36 per truck round trip to drive between Moncton and Saint John. The cost between Moncton and Edmundston would be around $24 for a car and $96 for a truck.

The government is also considering other possible options including placing tolls at the four major border points in the province, or around the three major cities in the province.
