Fear for the spread of opioid use across the country is raising concerns from New Brunswickers.
An interdepartmental task group continues to work with its partners to respond to misuse, and overdoses in the province..
That group is helping to develop guidelines and plans for prevention, monitoring, preparedness and response.
The provincial government is also studying options for Naloxone, and making it available to those who might be vulnerable to overdoses. It is a medication that can stop or reverse an opioid overdose.
Fentanyl is a synthetic drug that can be up to 100 times more potent than other opioids.
