In conjunction with Canada’s 150th anniversary celebration this year, Parks Canada has waived all entry fees to national parks.
For provincial parks such as Hopewell Rocks, it’s business as usual for fees.
Property manager Noel Hamann says they are trying to clear up any confusion.
“I think that there is a little bit of confusion in the minds of folks. We are trying to get the message out as much as possible through the media and through our advertising,” he notes.
Hamann says the provincial park is also looking at making an addition to their distance signage to help clear things up.
Hopewell Rocks had a stellar opening over the Victoria Day weekend with visitor numbers up by 180 percent over last year.
