Quick Reaction Team results shared by Saint John police

The Saint John Police Force says its Community Engagement Quick Reaction Team has made measurable progress since launching earlier this year.

Between March and the end of August, the four-member team conducted 121 foot patrols, made 108 arrests, issued 124 citations and carried out 261 traffic stops.

Authorities also added that the team generated 126 files during that time.

The Quick Reaction Team was introduced in March to increase police visibility and enforcement in the uptown business district and Waterloo Village area.

Chief Robert Bruce said the team was created to give officers a more flexible way to do proactive police work and respond to specific community needs.

The officers assigned to the team are Constables Phil Maher, Guillaume Lalonde, Ryan Wilson and Michelle Bowes.

Police said the team will continue working with other members to address issues as they arise.

The department also acknowledged support from residents and businesses in the areas where the team has been active.
