A 20 cent increase in the Comex bus fare and the elimination of two runs getting preliminary approval by Quispamsis council at a special budgetary meeting.
Mayor Murray Driscoll tells us when the service started they assumed the ridership would grow continuously but ridership has actually gone down. So, he says they decided they would try to find some efficiences and he believes they have found those efficiences.
The runs eliminated on Route 53 would be the last route in the morning (qplex 9:24am) and the last route in the afternoon (qplex 6:31pm). As for the increase in bus fares to four dollars, Councillor Kirk Miller remarking that even with the increase the fares are still cheaper than some of the parking in the city.
The changes are estimated to save the town around $20,000.
