Quispamsis Home Damaged By Fire

A fire has extensively damaged a bungalow-style home on Vincent Road in Quispamsis.

Mike Boyle, chief of the Kennebecasis Valley Fire Department, said the fire had already engulfed the basement when they arrived.

Passersby noticed the fire at around 6 p.m. Thursday and called 911 after flames broke out a window.

About 18 to 20 firefighters were on the scene for around four hours, said Boyle.

No one was home at the time, however, several family pets died in the fire.

Two people were displaced and are being looked after by the Canadian Red Cross.

There’s no word yet on a cause. Fire investigators are back on the scene Friday.

Boyle adds while fighting the fire, crews were also called to a crash on Route 119 at around 7:30 p.m.

One vehicle flipped over, and both vehicles had significant damage. Boyle says the occupants suffered only minor injuries.
