Rainbow crosswalk at Belleisle school damaged

A new rainbow crosswalk at Belleisle Regional High School in Springfield has been damaged.

The community of Valley Waters, near Sussex, confirmed the incident in a social media post.

The statement, attributed to the mayor and council, said they were dismayed to learn of the damage.

“These types of incidents can violate a sense of safety and belonging for an individual, an entire group, or community,” it said.

The mayor and council went on to say they are committed to being a welcoming and inclusive community where diversity is celebrated.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
