Rainy weekend in store for southern N.B.

You will want to grab an umbrella and rain jacket if you plan on heading out this weekend.

Environment Canada said southern New Brunswick is in for a soggy couple of days.

Showers and periods of rain are expected beginning Saturday morning and continuing into Sunday night.

Meteorologist Jill Mapea said current models show the highest totals are anticipated along the Fundy coast.

“It could approach 50 millimetres right along the coast, with the heaviest rain expected Saturday afternoon into Saturday night,” Maepea said in an interview.

Other parts of New Brunswick will also see rain, but totals are not expected to be as high.

Maepea said amounts will drop off considerably the further east you are in the province.

“For Moncton, we’re not really anticipating all that much, maybe 15 to 25 millimetres,” she added.

The meteorologist said high winds are not expected to be an issue with this particular system.
