Rapids Dominate Warriors in an Explosive Home-Opening Weekend

The Saint John Rapids male side delivered a statement weekend at the Lord Beaverbrook Rink, overwhelming the Mi’kmaq Warriors in back-to-back contests and showcasing one of the most explosive offensive performances of the ECJLL season.

After defeating the Warriors 13-4 on Saturday night, the Rapids returned to the floor Sunday morning and raised the bar even higher, rolling to a dominant 20-8 victory. Over the two games, Saint John poured in an incredible 33 goals while allowing just 12, demonstrating the depth, firepower, and confidence that continue to make the Rapids one of the league’s most dangerous teams.

Saturday’s contest was effectively decided early as the Rapids stormed out to a 5-1 first-period lead and never looked back. Adrien Mosher opened the scoring, with goaltender Ethan Rowbotham earning an assist on the play, before Chase Aldridge, Brody Nyitrai, Felix Harding, and Carson Saunders all found the back of the net during a dominant opening frame.

The Rapids continued to apply pressure in the second period. Harding scored twice, including a shorthanded marker, while Nyitrai completed a hat trick and Aldridge added another goal as Saint John built a commanding 10-4 lead entering the third period. The Warriors never recovered from the Rapids’ relentless attack and transition game.

Aldridge completed his own hat trick early in the third period before adding a fourth goal later in the frame. Sawyer King also found the scoresheet, helping Saint John close out the convincing 13-4 victory.

The offensive leaders were impossible to miss. Aldridge finished with four goals and one assist, Harding recorded six points on three goals and three assists, and Nyitrai added three goals of his own in his first game following a recent signing with the Rapids. King contributed three points, while Saunders chipped in with a goal and an assist.

If Saturday’s performance was impressive, Sunday’s effort was even more remarkable.

The Rapids erupted for 20 goals against the Warriors in the second game of the weekend, completing a weekend sweep in emphatic fashion. Saint John controlled the game from the outset and never allowed Mi’kmaq to generate sustained momentum, turning the contest into another offensive showcase for the home crowd. The 20-goal performance represented one of the most productive offensive outings in recent team history and capped a weekend that saw the Rapids score 33 times in just two games.

What made the weekend especially impressive was the balance throughout the lineup. The Rapids received contributions from veteran leaders, young offensive stars, transition players, and defenders alike. Every shift seemed to create pressure, and the Warriors struggled to contain the Rapids’ speed and ball movement throughout both contests.

The defensive effort also deserves recognition. While the offence grabbed the headlines, Saint John limited the Warriors to just four goals on Saturday and eight on Sunday. Strong goaltending, disciplined defensive-zone coverage, and relentless backchecking allowed the Rapids to control possession and quickly turn defensive stops into offensive opportunities.

By the end of the weekend, the Rapids had sent a clear message to the rest of the ECJLL. With their offence firing on all cylinders and contributions coming from every corner of the roster, Saint John continues to build momentum as the season progresses.

Two games this weekend. Two victories. Thirty-three goals. Unbeaten on the season

The Rapids faithful were treated to a spectacular weekend of lacrosse, and if this offensive surge is any indication, there may be plenty more excitement still to come this season.
