RCMP Assumes Search For Missing Teen

New Brunswick RCMP are now leading the search for a 15-year-old boy who reportedly fell off a fishing vessel off the coast of Pointe-Sapin.

RCMP divers and a helicopter are among the specialized policing services which have been deployed.

Mounties have identified the boy as Justin Landry.

Police consider him a missing person and remain in contact with his family.

On Monday around 9:45 a.m., the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre Halifax (JRCC) responded to a distress call about a teenager who went overboard in a fishing vessel.

About 20 local boats assisted the JRCC in the search effort which included a helicopter, coast guard vessels and a Transport Canada aircraft.

The JRCC ended its search at 8 p.m. Monday and turned the case over to the RCMP.

Mounties say Justin Landry was last seen wearing a blue sweater, green rubber pants and green rubber boots.

Anyone with information that could help locate him is asked to contact Richibucto RCMP at 506-523-4611.
