RCMP issue 105 tickets in 2-day traffic operation

RCMP say they issued 105 tickets during a two-day traffic operation in the St. George, St. Stephen, Minto and Oromocto regions.

The operation was conducted last Thursday and Friday to improve road safety and educate drivers on traffic laws.

Police said among the 105 traffic violations, 65 were speeding tickets and several warnings were also issued.

They reported one person received an immediate roadside suspension for alcohol impairment, while another received a seven-day roadside suspension.

Two other people were also ticketed for driving without insurance, resulting in vehicle towing at the owner’s expense.

“Several drivers are still not paying enough attention to the speed limits that are in place and are putting their safety and the safety of other motorists at risk,” said RCMP Sgt. Ghislain David.

David added the need for extra caution while driving due to the rapidly changing weather conditions in New Brunswick.

The public is encouraged to help by reporting dangerous drivers to the police.

In case of suspected impaired or reckless driving, call 911 with the driver’s description, vehicle details, and direction of travel to aid the authorities in keeping the roads safer.
