Report On Mental Health Issues Afflicting Soldiers Released

According to a new report from Stats Canada, in 2013, about one in six fulltime regular members of the Canadian Forces reported symptoms in the previous 12 months that are consistent with at least one of six selected mental or alcohol disorders.

Major depression was the most common disorder reported by 8 per cent of fulltime regular force members.

Symptoms of post traumatic stress disorder were reported by 5.3% of fulltime soldiers in the 12 months leading up to the survey. 2.5% reported abusing alcohol.
