A warning from the New Brunswick Health Coalition about increasing privatisation of health care services in the province.
The Health Coalition has found privatisation occurring in long term facilities, management of extra mural care, blood plasma collection as well as the management of food services, cleaning and patient transportation.
Norma Robinson of the Council of Hospital Unions says of the 17 recommendations from the Health Coalition, universal drug coverage would save the most money.
Robinson can’t see how private companies can meet health care targets for service delivery and make enough of a profit to satisfy the shareholders.
