Riverview Woman At Disney Resort During Hurricane Matthew

It’s a wait and see situation for vacationers in Florida, as Hurricane Matthew continues on its path. That includes Jennifer McGinn of Riverview..who is at Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort.

Jennifer McGinn, who owns Lollipops and Gumdrops Consignment Store, says she had heard about Hurricane Matthew before she headed to the Disney resort with her cousin, but they decided they would go anyway.

They’re now confined to their Hotel room, “Here at our Disney Resort, they have asked us to stay in our rooms. I do see people out walking around our building. Because it is shelter, there is a roof overtop of us. There is also a County wide curfew in effect until 7am tomorrow morning. It was put into place at 10pm last night. We’re not allowed to be out on the roads at all.”

McGinn says the resort is full, “Fort Wilderness campground was evacuated and many of the people staying there moved to the resort…The airport was also shut down yesterday, so a lot of people weren’t able to fly home.”

McGinnand her cousin were at Disneyworld yesterday. They left at 3pm, and the park closed at 5pm, due to the potential storm.

In a post on her Facebook, she says they faced lineups of people who were trying to get food.

McGinn says they are supposed to fly back on Sunday, but that will depend on what is still to come with Hurricane Matthew,
and whether or not any extensive damage is done.
