Ozzy Osbourne, the iconic frontman of Black Sabbath and one of heavy metal’s most influential figures, has died at 76.
His family confirmed his passing in a statement, calling him “a force of nature who changed music forever.”
Born in Birmingham, England, Osbourne rose from a working-class background to global stardom with Black Sabbath.
Albums like Paranoid and Master of Reality became cornerstones of metal, and Osbourne’s wild persona earned him the nickname “Prince of Darkness.”
Despite decades of drug and alcohol abuse, a near-fatal ATV crash, and a Parkinson’s diagnosis in 2019, Osbourne remained a resilient figure in music and pop culture. His infamous onstage antics—including biting the head off a bat—only added to his legend.
In recent years, he had largely stepped back from performing due to health issues.
He is survived by his wife Sharon and children Aimee, Kelly, Jack, and Louis.
