The Rockwood Park Stables in Saint John has been vindicated after a New Brunswick SPCA animal protection officer and a provincial veterinarian conducted an inspection.
Earlier this month, CHSJ News reported an investigation had been launched after a complaint was lodged against the stables and that a Facebook post containing photos criticizing the conditions of the stable area garnered a lot of attention online and even drew reaction from mayor Don Darling.
According to the NB SPCA, there were no issues found with the water buckets, the outbuilding and the vet wasn’t concerned about the two horses that might look underweight because of how old they are.
The vet did note the flared hooves on the horses had to be dealt with but agreed with the owners that they should wait a month for the horse to adjust to its new surroundings first before getting a farrier to come in.
The inspection was held on July 3. The SPCA also notes that on June 12 Rockwood Park Stables had another veterinarian inspect the facility.
