A new strategic plan is expected to serve as a five-year road map for Rothesay.
“This strategic plan recognizes that Rothesay stands at an important crossroads,” Mayor Nancy Grant said in a statement.
“We face the realities of regional growth, infrastructure renewal needs and changing demographics while maintaining our commitment to the residential community character and extraordinary quality of life that sets us apart.”
Grant said the plan will guide council decisions, inform budget priorities and provide operational benchmarks for measuring progress.
“It ensures that every significant choice we make as a community advances our vision of Rothesay as a thriving, sustainable place where young families can put down roots, current residents can age in place and future generations can enjoy the same exceptional quality of life we enjoy today,” she said.
Significant pieces of the plan are the four strategic pillars, developed through analysis of interview data collected during a municipal organizational review process.
They are operational excellence, infrastructure development, recreation and housing.
Each pillar has several objectives tied to it, ranging from the creation of a formal crisis communications plan for the town, to a collector road connecting Fox Farm Road and Campbell Drive, to enabling aging-in-place solutions.
According to the plan, each pillar supports the others and creates a “holistic” approach where infrastructure investments enable recreation improvements, housing diversity strengthens community engagement and engaged residents drive better decision-making across all areas.
