Rothesay Mayor Dr. Nancy Grant has come out strongly in support of the proposed condo project on Hillcreast Drive at Hampton Road. She believes the condos would be ideal for seniors.
58 condos would be built including 5 garden homes with two housing units each.
Before any final approval is given, Town Council will want to see more details on such aspects as landscaping and storm drainage.
Opponents have said the project violates the town’s municipal plan but Dr. Grant argues Council has the option of moving beyond the municipal plan if the conditions are right.
There has been the suggestion appeal could be made to the New Brunswick Planning Appeals Board but Town Manager John Jarvie doesn’t think any such appeal would be successful.
