Route 860 Washout In The Hampton Area

It could be several more weeks before a road washout in the Hampton area can be fixed.

Heavy rain and melting snow during the last weekend of March led to a culvert failure on Route 860.

An eight-kilometre stretch of the road is closed from Lakeside Road to Stock Farm Road.

Paul Bradley, spokesperson for the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure, said staff are in the process of reviewing the design for repairs, which includes replacing the damaged culvert.

Bradley said it could be early May before the culvert and washout are repaired.

In the meantime, drivers have to use French Village Road and Damascus Road to get around the closure.
