A past president for the Kennebecasis branch of the Royal Canadian Legion says he can envision the branches in New Brunswick raising a considerable amount of cash for Fort McMurray wildfire relief as meetings are held this months.
It’s already started with New Brunswick Command and the branches pledging funds as Harold Defazio told us:
“NB Command donated $5000 towards the relief and Kennebecasis Valley followed suit last night after our meeting we decided to help out as well so we gave $5000 and I believe 69 Branch gave around $3000,” says Defazio.
Half of the money raised goes to the Red Cross and half goes to Iqaluit and Northwest Terrorities Command which will use the money to help people in the area.
