A Saint Andrews native has signed a three-year entry-level contract with the NHL’s Utah Mammoth.

Gabe Smith was drafted by Utah in the fourth round of the 2024 NHL Draft.

The 18-year-old tallied 39 points and 63 penalty minutes in 52 regular-season games with the Moncton Wildcats in 2024-25.

Smith added 22 points in 19 games during the QMJHL playoffs, including the championship-winning goal in Moncton’s game six over Rimouski.

He has also recorded four points through three Memorial Cup games as Moncton plays for the Canadian Hockey League championship. Smith was named First Star in the Wildcats’ round-robin victory against Rimouski.
