Saint Andrews Will Host 4 Day Festival Over Long Weekend

Saint Andrews By-the-Sea will come alive with the beginning of Paddlefest, the annual music, art, and recreation Festival.

The four day event will kick off Thursday night with a concert at Kingsbrae Garden, but organizer Luke MacDonald says that’s only the beginning.

“We have four days of programming of music, something for everyone with different age groups. Our centerpiece is the main stage, we have a big tent in the Town Square in Saint Andrews, we have music there Friday and Saturday night. We have music all across town throughout the weekend, day and night. So we have the show kicking things off on Thursday at Kingsbrae Garden, a show Sunday evening at the Algonquin Resort. Music at all the cafes and restaurants during the day, most of those shows are free to the public and for all ages. Late night music at the Red Herring Pub and the Kennedy Inn with some bar shows. We have a kids show going on Saturday afternoon on the lawn of the Old Courthouse and Archives on Frederick Street. The show is with kids performers Scotty & The Stars, it’ll be free to the public, and we’re encouraging people to bring a picnic or a lawn chair, sit on the grass and there will be some kids games too.”

Besides the music, MacDonald says there’s a wide array of recreational events for all skill sets, including kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding and introductory clinics, a beach-clean up of Navy Island on Sunday, environmental talks.

He says there will also be art shows and a Paddlefest Market on Saturday afternoon in Market Square.
